After School Club

Barford School runs a successful afterschool club, staff by qualified play leaders, providing high quality care and healthy meals. We currently have places available from the end of the school day until 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Welcome to FAB (Fun at Barford)

Barford School runs out of hours childcare through its extended school day care known as FAB.  This allows the school to be open from 8.00am to 6.00pm most days.

 Our aims are:

  • To make our club genuinely accessible to all families with children attending Barford Primary School.
  • To provide an opportunity for children to socialize out of school.
  • To provide a range of creative, physical and play activities in a comfortable, familiar and safe environment.

The Club is available for children aged 4 to 11 years.  We have places for 23 children at each session.

The club follows school term dates.  This means the club will is not currently open on staff training days.

Opening Times

Breakfast Club Monday and Thursday 8.00am to 8.50am (Other days available subject to demand)

Purple class children will be escorted to their classroom at 8.50am.

After School Club Monday to Thursday 3.15pm to 6pm.

Film Club or Stay and Play sessions Fridays 3.15 to 5pm

Staffing

Our play leader in charge is qualified in childcare and is assisted by a play worker who will either hold a childcare qualification or have previous childcare experience.  The staff aims to provide care and promote opportunities for child centred play following guidelines and standards which are set out by Ofsted.

Registration

A completed registration form is required for each child attending the club.  There is a one off registration fee of £1.00 per child payable at registration.  Parents / Carers will also be asked to sign a parental agreement.

Payment

Please remember that the working Families Tax credit is available to those parents who work 16 hours or more.  This could help with childcare fees.  Contact the Working Families Tax Credit hotline 0845 6098000 for further information.

Computershare (formerly Busybees) are accepted and are a great way to save money on your childcare bills.

Location of F.A.B.

The Club is located in the main school hall at the rear of the school.  The club also has access to the school playing field and playground.  A member of staff always supervises the children during outside play.

Activities at the Club

Our programme of activities places emphasis on providing a safe and fair play, and aims to be creative stimulating, fun and varied.

Each child is encouraged to make choices in their play activities in order to promote independence and self esteem.

Our weekly program of activities may include:

  • Team games
  • Modeling
  • Art and Painting
  • Crafts
  • Dressing up
  • Construction toys
  • Outdoor play
  • Imaginative Play
  • Board Games and puzzles

We also provide a quiet area for children to relax, read, watch TV or do homework.

Food

At breakfast club the children can chose from a variety of breakfast cereals and toast.

At after school club, on arrival the children will be offered fresh fruit.  At approximately 4.30 the children are offered a healthy light meal.  Children are encouraged to help with the menu selection and food preparation.

Policies

The club is registered with Ofsted, registration number URN120783.  Parents are encouraged to read our club policies which include the Positive Behaviour and Discipline Policy and the Complaints Procedure, available from the play leader.  Where appropriate these policies are identical to the school policies with a few additional policies specific to an Extended School Facility.
