The centre opened in 1997 when Downham Market High School achieved Technology College Status bringing together the High School/ Sixth Form College, local and business communities, which was made possible by generous sponsorship from British Sugar and funding from King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council in support of economic development in the Downham Market area.

The aim of the centre was

• to provide IT and reprographic facilities for the Sixth Form College
• to be a Community Resource giving local people access to its facilities
• to operate as a business providing a cost effective printing and photocopying service to both the local and business communities.

The Business Technology building, as well as housing a purpose built, galleried Art Studio also houses a permanently staffed, thirty-station computer suite that is available for student use throughout the day, afterschool and during most holidays. Here students enjoy excellent IT facilities;

• free internet access and email
• first class printing and reprographic facilities
• support from an experienced member of staff
• pleasant and comfortable environment.

The services offered by the centre have proven popular with the both the local and business communities; steady growth in business has enabled us to expand our services to include large format printing and copying facilities. Re-branding our services as the Print Centre has given people clearer understanding of what services are available and has increased our client base and further developed the range and type of work undertaken by the centre by both local and business communities. This has also been beneficial to the College in raising the college profile in terms of the facilities that students have access to.

As part of Opportunities West Norfolk we would like to extend our services to our community school partners. We are able to offer excellent concessionary rates.  There are also concessionary rates available for staff or pupils who wish to take advantage of this service.
